Giselle, a member of K-pop girl group aespa, is facing online backlash after a series of Instagram posts referencing controversial figures and imagery resurfaced.
The posts have split opinion online, with critics accusing her of glorifying disturbing content while fans insist it's simply an extension of her longstanding edgy style.
The most widely discussed image in the controversy shows Giselle wearing a shirt featuring Richard Ramirez, the convicted serial killer known as the "Night Stalker."
Ramirez was found guilty of 13 murders along with multiple counts of rape and burglary committed across California in the mid-1980s.
International social media users seized on the image, accusing Giselle of glorifying a convicted murderer.
Some critics also took issue with a post that reportedly featured music by American rock band Creed, pointing to a 2007 incident involving frontman Scott Stapp.

Stapp was arrested that year after his wife alleged he threw a bottle toward her during an argument. The initial felony charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor and eventually dropped after he completed anger-management counseling and other conditions.
Several social media users cited Giselle's use of both Creed and XXXTentacion's music as evidence that she supports controversial artists, but that conclusion goes beyond what the available facts support.
Both artists have documented legal histories, as XXXTentacion faced charges including domestic battery of a pregnant woman and false imprisonment before his 2018 death.
As with other posts in the controversy, neither Giselle nor her agency, SM Entertainment, has issued a public statement addressing the shirt or the broader backlash.
