The Türkiye Culture Route Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has officially opened in Manisa for the second time, bringing a week-long program of cultural and artistic events to the city.
The opening ceremony was held at Manisa Museum, featuring speeches by senior officials and representatives. Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Serdar Cam stated that the festival is being held across 26 provinces this year and emphasized Manisa’s continued role as a host city.
He described the initiative as an important effort to highlight Türkiye’s cultural heritage, historical legacy, and artistic diversity.
Cam noted that the festival goes beyond cultural and artistic activities, stating that it also contributes to raising awareness among young people about their historical and cultural roots.
He said the event encourages participants to engage in thinking, research and creative production while also supporting local economies and tourism sectors, including gastronomy and museums.
Manisa Governor Vahdettin Ozkan underlined the role of cultural, artistic, and scientific activities in strengthening the identity of cities.
He stated that such events support young people in developing a stronger sense of confidence in the future and contribute to social cohesion.
Ozkan also drew attention to the impact of digitalization on cultural life, noting both its opportunities and challenges for younger generations.
Ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Manisa MP Mucahit Arinc highlighted the importance of the Manisa Museum, which houses over 1,700 artifacts ranging from ancient civilizations to the Ottoman period. He invited citizens to participate in the festival events, which will include concerts, exhibitions, talks, children’s programs, and gastronomy activities throughout the week.
Following the speeches, officials visited the “Sacred Relics of the Ottoman Empire” exhibition and later toured the children’s activity area set up at Cumhuriyet Square.
