Portuguese pianist Vasco Dantas took the stage at the 23rd International Gumusluk Music Festival in Türkiye's southwestern resort town of Bodrum, performing a program that brought together traditional Fado melodies, Portuguese dances and his own compositions.

The concert was held at the 2,500-year-old Ancient Stone Quarry as part of the festival's "On the Stone" series, organized with support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and with Bosfor Tourism as its main sponsor.

Portuguese musical traditions meet classical piano

Dantas opened the evening with a program titled "Fado, Folia and Other Portuguese Dances," drawing on Fado, a traditional Portuguese musical form, while also performing works he composed himself.

His piano interpretations drew interest from classical music audiences in Bodrum, bringing Portuguese musical traditions into the historic open-air setting.

The festival continues at the Ancient Stone Quarry featuring British pianist Charles Owen on Aug. 6, followed by Hungarian pianist Attila Szaniszlo and Japanese pianist Teppei Kuroda on Aug. 8.
