A Turkish-Arab ensemble led by Turkish actor Burcu Biricik is moving to Antalya to shoot the remaining scenes of "Harabe," a new feature whose filming has run past its original schedule.
Directed by Senem Bay, the film brings together Biricik, Turkish actor Burak Dakak, Palestinian actor Maisa Abd Elhadi and Lebanese actor Josef Akiki. Filming began Sept. 15, and the crew has already completed scenes in Istanbul's Beyoglu, Galata and Karakoy districts before moving to Antalya for the remaining shoot.
Weather delays pushed back the schedule, and production is now expected to wrap Oct. 30.
Biricik plays Selin, a human rights activist. Further details about the plot have not been released.
The delay cost Biricik a role at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, where she had been named to the jury for the National Feature Film Competition.
The festival’s 63rd edition runs Oct. 24-31, and her filming schedule now overlaps with it. Meryem Uzerli, who gained international fame in the television series “Magnificent Century,” will take her place on the panel, which is led by director Dervis Zaim and also includes actor Fatih Artman.
The Golden Orange is one of Türkiye's oldest and best-known film festivals.
