A decade after ruling the screen as an Ottoman royal couple, Turkish stars Beren Saat and Ekin Koc are reuniting for an independent film about death and free will.
The new project follows Asli, a stage actor whose husband died by suicide, and Galip, who lives along Istanbul’s shores and survives by stealing and slipping into other people’s lives.
The project, titled "Tum Yorgun Atlar," literally "All the Tired Horses," will be directed by Burak Cevik and produced by Ipek Erden.
Cevik is a rising name in Turkish arthouse cinema. Several of his films, including "The Pillar of Salt," "Belonging" and "Forms of Forgetting," have premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.
No release date has been announced yet.
Beren Saat and Ekin Koc first shared the screen in the period drama "Muhtesem Yuzyil: Kosem," playing Kosem and her husband, Sultan Ahmed I.
The series told the story of Kosem, who governed the Ottoman Empire for decades and became one of the most powerful women of the 17th century. It was also filmed in part on the Greek island of Chios, with over 100 actors in period costume.
The series was broadcast in the U.S. by Telemundo as "La Sultana."
