Türkiye's Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival concludes with Verdi’s La Traviata

The 32nd International Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival came to a close in Antalya with a performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s immortal opera La Traviata.

The festival, organized by the General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, ended its season in the ancient theater of Aspendos, a Roman-era structure renowned for its remarkable acoustics and grand architecture.

Enthusiastic audiences fill ancient theater

Since the opening night, the festival has attracted strong interest from art lovers.

Tickets sold out days in advance, and the historic venue witnessed a lively atmosphere that reflected the audience’s enthusiasm for world-class opera and ballet performed in a setting that dates back nearly two millennia.

Uzbekistan’s leading cultural institution on stage

For the final performance, the Ali Shir Nevai State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Uzbekistan took the stage. The company, named after the celebrated poet and thinker Ali Shir Nevai, presented Verdi’s La Traviata under the direction of Konstantin Kamynin.

The Antalya State Opera and Ballet Orchestra accompanied the performance, conducted by maestro Viacheslav Chernukho-Volich. The Uzbek company’s participation was described as creating a cultural bridge that enriched the festival’s international character.

Distinguished guests in attendance

The closing night was attended by Antalya Deputy Governor Suat Seyitoglu, Antalya State Opera and Ballet Director Ozgur Aslan, and officials from the Uzbek Ministry of Culture, including Saidakhon Dadamirzayeva and Orifjon Fayziyev.

A 10-member delegation from the Ali Shir Nevai State Opera and Ballet Theater also witnessed the event, underscoring the importance of cultural exchange between Türkiye and Uzbekistan.
