Vin Diesel says he has read the script for Fast Forever, the 11th installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, and calls it exceptional.
The actor shared his reaction on Instagram on Saturday, in a caption accompanying a trailer for the theatrical re-release of the original The Fast and the Furious, which returns to theaters Aug. 21 for its 25th anniversary. Diesel wrote that the Fast Forever script, credited to Michael Lesslie, is 'the best script I have read in decades.'
Fast Forever is scheduled for release on March 17, 2028, from Universal. It follows 2023's Fast X, directed by Louis Leterrier, whose planned sequel was originally set for spring 2025 before being delayed.
Diesel, who plays franchise lead Dominic Toretto, announced in February 2024 that the next film would serve as the series finale. Last year, at the FuelFest automotive event organized by Paul Walker's brother Cody Walker, the actor said the upcoming film marks a return to car culture and street racing.
He also indicated that the late Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Conner, would factor into the finale.
Walker, who played O'Conner throughout the franchise, died in a car crash on Nov. 30, 2013, at age 40. His remaining scenes in Furious 7 were completed using CGI, archival footage and his brothers, Caleb and Cody Walker, as stand-ins.
The Fast & Furious franchise has grossed more than $7 billion worldwide. Peacock is also developing a television series based on the films.
