47 Turkish universities in CWUR global rankings

This year, 47 universities from Türkiye made it into the Best Universities in the World ranking by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).

The ranking, released worldwide on Monday, examined over 21,000 universities across 95 countries and highlighted the top 2,000.

The evaluation used seven indicators, grouped into four categories: education, employability, faculty, and research.

Hacettepe University, a large public research university in Ankara, founded in 1967 and known for its health sciences and engineering programs, ranked 666th globally. This was the highest spot among Turkish universities.

Next came Istanbul University at 707th, Ankara University at 733rd, Middle East Technical University (METU) at 736th, and Bogazici University at 785th.

METU is a leading technical university in Ankara, known for its engineering and natural sciences programs. Bogazici University is a selective public university in Istanbul with most courses taught in English.

Istanbul Technical University was ranked 813th, Marmara University 939th, and Koc University, a private research university in Istanbul, 989th. These universities make up the Turkish institutions in the top 1,000.

Harvard tops global list

Harvard University earned a perfect score of 100 in all categories, ranking first in the world. All of the top 10 universities are in the United States or the United Kingdom.

After Harvard, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was second, Stanford University third, the University of Cambridge fourth, and the University of Oxford fifth.

Princeton University was sixth, the University of Pennsylvania seventh, Columbia University eighth, Yale University ninth, and the University of Chicago tenth.
