ASELSAN has been granted the TUSEB Health Technologies Prestige Award for its LIFELINE HLM Heart-Lung Machine at the TUSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards.
According to a statement from the company, the 12th Turkish Medical World Congress, organized under the auspices of the Presidency by the Ministry of Health and the Health Institutes of Türkiye Presidency (TUSEB), was held in Istanbul.
TUSEB is a state institution that supports and coordinates health research in Türkiye.
Held for the first time in 2014, the congress was attended by health ministers, senior bureaucrats, and scientists from around 20 countries.
As part of the congress, the TUSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards were presented to researchers who have shown outstanding success and made significant contributions in the field of health sciences.
The award ceremony, which aims to encourage scientific achievements and support quality work in the health field, was held with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu and 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry laureate Professor Dr. Aziz Sancar.
At the congress, ASELSAN was given the “TUSEB Health Technologies Prestige Award” as the Company Showing Technological Advancement for its LIFELINE HLM Heart-Lung Machine.
ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol received the award from President Erdogan.
The Heart-Lung Machine Development Project was completed last August.
After the device’s production was completed, blood tests were carried out in 2024, and animal experiments were conducted in the TUSEB-IDEA laboratory in 2025, under the leadership of TUSEB President Professor Dr. Umit Kervan. Clinical studies of the device on humans began in June 2026 at Bilkent City Hospital.
Currently, a total of 60 cases have been successfully performed with the device.
With more than half a century of technological know-how in the defense industry, ASELSAN is also developing game-changing technologies in the health field.
These include critical technologies such as the LIFELINE BIYOVENT Ventilator, a machine that helps patients breathe and played a critical role during the COVID-19 pandemic; the HEARTLINE AED Automated External Defibrillator, a device that delivers an electric shock to restore a normal heart rhythm; and the HEALTHVIEW ADR-M100 Mobile X-ray Device.
