Kurtdere Plateau, a highland plateau in the Macka district of Trabzon on Türkiye's Black Sea coast, drew a surge of visitors after Trabzonspor forward Mohamed Salah shared photos of himself sitting on a rock at the site.
Fans have since visited the plateau to take photographs at the same spot.
The Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality had placed a bench near the rock some time after Salah's visit. Residents allege unidentified individuals removed the bench and a sign reading "SalahPlateau" from the site. In its place, local residents installed their own sign reading "Mohamed Salah's rock" beside the rock.
Residents who said the bench and sign were taken during the evening hours said they intend to install a security camera at the site and put up a replacement sign in the near future.
