Cappadocia, renowned for its rich historical heritage, cultural landmarks, and natural beauty, welcomed 4,523,275 visitors to its museums and archaeological sites in 2025, marking a notable increase from the previous year.
In a written statement, Nevsehir Governor Ali Fidan emphasized that the region’s tourism momentum continues steadily, supported by sustainable and quality-focused management of its destinations.
According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, visitor numbers in 2024 totaled 4,374,019, reflecting a growth of nearly 150,000 visitors in 2025.
The Goreme Open-Air Museum emerged as the region’s most visited site, attracting 1,186,332 visitors. Other prominent attractions followed by Pasabaglari (907,345), Kaymakli Underground City (688,417), and Derinkuyu Underground City (547,417), all of which drew significant interest from both domestic and international tourists.
Cappadocia currently hosts 883 accommodation establishments with a total of 15,688 rooms and 32,037 beds. Throughout 2025, these facilities accommodated 2,020,619 guests.
The majority of international visitors came from China, Spain, the United States, South Korea, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, Russia, Germany and Brazil, highlighting the region’s global appeal.
Governor Fidan further noted that in January 2026, Cappadocia’s museums and archaeological sites received 178,948 visitors, demonstrating strong demand at the outset of the year and indicating continued growth for the region’s tourism sector.
