Türkiye’s Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Isikhan has presented Italian chef Claudio Chinali with the Turquoise Card, a special status granted to qualified foreigners whose work is considered valuable for Türkiye’s economy, culture or international promotion.
Minister Isikhan said on social media that he hosted Chinali at the ministry and handed over the card, which is given to strengthen Türkiye’s highly qualified workforce and investment environment.
He also wished Chinali success in his future work in gastronomy and culture.
The Turquoise Card is issued under Türkiye’s international labor force policy to foreigners whose applications are approved based on criteria such as education level, professional experience, contribution to science and technology, investment impact, cultural work or contribution to the promotion of Türkiye.
The card may be granted to highly qualified workers, investors, scientists, researchers, internationally successful figures in culture, arts or sports, and foreigners who help promote Türkiye or Turkish culture abroad.
The Turquoise Card is first granted with a three-year transition period. If it is not cancelled during that time, the holder may apply to have the transition status removed and receive an indefinite Turquoise Card.
The card also gives the holder rights linked to an indefinite work permit, while the spouse and dependent children of the cardholder may receive documents serving as residence permits. Foreigners under temporary protection in Türkiye are not eligible for the Turquoise Card.
