Turkish-German actress Meryem Uzerli unexpectedly stepped into a fan video at Istanbul's Ciragan Palace, recreating one of the best-known lines from Hurrem Sultan, the character she played in the hit historical drama "Magnificent Century."
Two women visiting the former Ottoman imperial palace on Sept. 27 were filming themselves using a line associated with Hurrem Sultan when they happened to run into Uzerli.
After the fans asked her to join them, Uzerli stepped in front of the camera and delivered the line: "Ben bir sey istiyorsam mutlak suretle alirim," meaning, "If I want something, I will definitely get it."
The spontaneous encounter quickly drew attention after the footage was shared on social media.
The interaction continued after filming ended, with Uzerli asking the women to send her the video they had just recorded.
Footage of the exchange, including her interaction with the fans, was later widely circulated on social media.
The encounter followed another recent incident involving Uzerli and the television series while she was staying at Ciragan Palace.
Uzerli reportedly heard sounds from "Magnificent Century" coming from a nearby room and realized that a neighboring guest was watching the series. She later knocked on the guest's door and surprised the fan in person, with footage of that encounter also spreading across social media.
"Magnificent Century," known in Turkish as "Muhtesem Yuzyil," is a historical television drama centered on the Ottoman court. Uzerli played Hurrem Sultan, the influential consort of Ottoman Sultan Suleiman I, in the series, which aired between 2011 and 2014.
