Turkish actor Ozge Ozpirincci has rejected accusations made by Kubra Suzgun, her former child co-star in the television drama "Kadin," or known as "Woman" in English, saying the allegations do not reflect the truth and that legal proceedings have been launched.
The dispute came back into the public eye after Suzgun posted a series of claims on social media about events she said had affected both her childhood and her family.
Suzgun appeared as Nisan, the daughter of Ozpirincci's character Bahar, in "Kadin," which was filmed between 2017 and 2019.
In her social media statement, Suzgun accused Ozpirincci of leaving her family vulnerable to criminal groups around seven years ago. She claimed that the alleged events had prevented her from experiencing a normal childhood and adolescence, while her family had lived in fear for their safety.
Suzgun also said her father had sold his possessions while trying to protect the family and continued to struggle on their behalf. Addressing Ozpirincci directly, she used strongly worded religious references and said she expected her to account for what had happened.
Responding to the allegations, Ozpirincci said Suzgun's father, Serkan Suzgun, had approached her on the set of Kadin and explained that he needed legal assistance.
Ozpirincci said she had subsequently referred him to her lawyer, Nail Gonenli, but had not taken part in the issue at any other stage.
She added that she had been following what she described as false accusations, threats, insults and defamatory statements directed at her, her family and people close to her for approximately seven years.
Ozpirincci rejected all the accusations and confirmed that legal steps had been taken to protect her rights.
"None of the allegations directed at me reflect the truth. The necessary applications have been made to protect my legal rights, and the relevant proceedings have been initiated," she said.
