Istanbul is expected to experience warm and sunny weather for most of the Eid al-Adha holiday, according to Professor Dr. Huseyin Toros, head of the Climate Science and Meteorology Engineering Department at Istanbul Technical University's (ITU) Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), Toros said the ITU Atmospheric Modeling Team assessed Istanbul's holiday weather outlook.

"Throughout the holiday, warm and sunny weather will be effective in Istanbul. We only expect a rain transition on the second day of the holiday," he said.

Sunny skies, high UV warning

On the first day, skies are expected to be clear and sunny, with temperatures rising from 16 degrees Celsius in the morning to 27 degrees Celsius (80.6 Fahrenheit) during the day. Winds will blow lightly from the northeast at 3 to 12 kilometers per hour.

Toros noted that the UV index is forecast to reach level 9, placing it in the "very high" category. He advised residents who will be outdoors for holiday gatherings and in animal sacrifice areas to take precautions against sun exposure during midday, when the sun is most direct.

Brief showers, temperatures to hold

On the second day, short-duration rain showers are expected, though temperatures will remain high. Morning lows are forecast at 17 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs reaching around 27 degrees Celsius.

Light southerly winds in the morning are expected to shift to stronger northerly winds in the afternoon, accelerating to 2 to 4 kilometers per hour.

Sunny conditions are forecast to return on the third day, though temperatures may dip slightly. Morning temperatures are expected to hover around 16 degrees Celsius, climbing to 24 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.

The final day of the holiday is expected to bring sunny and clear weather across Istanbul. Morning temperatures are forecast at around 17 degrees Celsius, rising to 25 degrees Celsius by afternoon.
