Turkish singer and television presenter Fatih Urek died Thursday evening at a private hospital in Sariyer, Istanbul, following complications from a heart attack he suffered in mid-October. He was 59.

Urek collapsed at home on October 15, 2025, and was rushed to the hospital with a heart attack diagnosis. He had been receiving treatment in intensive care for more than three months before his condition suddenly deteriorated Thursday.

Hospital confirms death after unsuccessful resuscitation efforts

The hospital where Urek was being treated released a statement confirming his death. According to the statement, the artist's condition "suddenly worsened" on January 30, and he experienced cardiac arrest. Medical staff and healthcare personnel quickly intervened and administered "all necessary advanced life support treatments," but efforts to save him were unsuccessful.

"Our patient could not respond positively to the interventions despite all efforts, and passed away at 8:30 p.m.," the hospital statement read. The facility extended condolences to Urek's family, relatives and admirers.

Career spanned music, theater and television

Born on April 3, 1966, in Erzurum, Urek moved with his family to Bursa during his childhood years. He began his artistic career in theater, gaining early stage experience as an extra at Bursa State Theater before transitioning to music.

Urek entered the music industry in 1993 with his debut album "Yakti Yakti." He went on to release several albums including "Sen Iki Gozumsun," "Sus" and "Hayde," which earned him recognition in Turkish popular music circles.

Television work brought wider recognition

From the 2000s onward, Urek became increasingly active in television. He gained visibility through his performance on a comedy program and later took on hosting duties for several popular shows.

Between 2018 and 2020, he hosted a cooking competition program on Kanal D and served as a judge on a hairstyling competition show. Most recently, he presented a family-oriented entertainment program on NOW TV during the 2024-2025 season.
