Türkiye’s latest marriage map shows that people in some provinces are marrying noticeably later than the national average, while others continue to see earlier first marriages, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) data.
Across Türkiye, the average age at first marriage stands at around 26 for women and 28.5 for men. However, the figures point to clear differences between provinces, suggesting that marriage timing varies significantly across the country.
Tunceli recorded the highest average age at first marriage for both women and men. Women in the province marry at an average age of 29.6, while men marry at 32.4.
Rize followed Tunceli, with women marrying at an average age of 27.4 and men at 29.9. Mugla ranked third, where the average first marriage age was 26.8 for women and 29.7 for men.
At the other end of the list, TurkStat data showed that some provinces remain well below the national average, particularly for women.
Among women, Agri had the lowest average first marriage age at 23.8. Mus and Gaziantep followed, both standing at 24.1.
For men, Sanliurfa recorded the lowest average first marriage age at 26.4. Gaziantep followed at 26.9, while Agri ranked third at 27.5.
The data shows that Türkiye’s average marriage age does not reflect a single national pattern. Instead, first marriage ages shift from province to province, with Tunceli, Rize and Mugla standing out for later marriages, while Agri, Mus, Gaziantep and Sanliurfa remain among the provinces where people marry earlier.
