A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck Türkiye's Kutahya province in the Simav district at 1:15 PM local time, with authorities confirming no casualties or property damage have been reported.

According to information published on the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority's (AFAD) website, the tremor occurred at a depth of 7.71 kilometers (4.79 miles) underground. The earthquake's epicenter was located in the Simav district of Kutahya province.

Kutahya Governor Musa Isin provided an official statement to the media, confirming the earthquake's epicenter location.

"Based on information received from our colleagues in the field, there have been no negative incidents so far. We have received no reports of casualties or property damage," Isin stated.

Ongoing safety measures and monitoring

Governor Isin emphasized that security forces and relevant institutions continue their operational work in the affected area.

He noted that no emergency calls have been received from the region, and gendarmerie forces are conducting field surveys with no negative findings reported.

"The Yemisli village in Simav previously experienced two earthquakes measuring 4.6 and 4.5 in magnitude, followed by nearly 700 smaller tremors below those levels. Today's earthquake epicenter is also in Yemisli," Isin explained.

The governor provided technical context regarding the seismic situation in the region.

"Yemisli and its surrounding areas contain what we can consider 'passive' fractured fault lines. According to technical information we've received, they do not pose a danger. As a precaution, we are keeping a rescue team ready in Simav," Isin stated.

AFAD official statement regarding the earthquake

AFAD issued an official statement through its social media channels confirming the earthquake response.

"Following the 4.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred at 1:15 p.m. in the Simav district of Kutahya province, there is currently no negative situation. Field screening operations continue. We extend our best wishes to our affected citizens," the statement read.

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz expressed solidarity with affected residents through his social media account.

"I extend my best wishes to all our fellow citizens affected by the earthquake in Kutahya Simav. Our relevant institutions, primarily AFAD, have begun field screening operations, and no negative situation has been detected as of now."

"May Allah protect our country and nation from all disasters," VP Yilmaz added.

Authorities continue monitoring the situation while maintaining emergency response readiness in the affected region.
