Baykar’s Bayraktar Akinci unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) scored a direct hit in its first firing test with the MORFOZ Guidance Kit developed by Aselsan, the company said Friday.
The Akinci took off from the Corlu Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdag carrying the MORFOZ kit and the Alpagut munition, jointly developed by Roketsan and STM, Baykar said.
The target over the Gulf of Saros was destroyed with the MORFOZ, and the drone returned safely to base.
The integration adds a long-range, high-precision strike option to the Akinci, one of Türkiye’s top defense exports, as Ankara pushes to arm its drones with domestically built munitions.
Aselsan's winged MORFOZ kit, developed entirely with domestic components, converts bombs into guided munitions to strike critical targets with high precision.
The kit uses deployable wings for long range and offers all-weather capability, resistance to GNSS jamming, a selectable impact angle and integrated INS/GPS-based navigation.
Images of the test showed the Akinci also carrying the Alpagut, a fixed-wing loitering munition developed by Roketsan and STM.
Baykar did not say whether the Alpagut was fired during the test.
The Akinci has been integrated with more than 20 Turkish munitions, including the MAM-L and MAM-T, the TOLUN family, TEBER, LACIN, the Cakir cruise missile, the Eren loitering munition, and the SUNGUR air defense missile, with the MORFOZ as the latest addition.
Baykar remains the world’s largest exporter of unmanned aerial vehicles in 2025, with a record $2.2 billion in exports, generating 90% of its revenue abroad in recent years.
The company has signed export deals with 39 countries, 36 for the Bayraktar TB2 and 16 for the Akinci, as the Akinci's MORFOZ integration expands its strike options.
