Istanbul's water authority announced Tuesday that residents across four districts will face a complete water shutdown lasting 14 hours on Wednesday, as maintenance crews carry out critical infrastructure upgrades on the city's main water supply lines.
The water suspension will take effect from 10 a.m. local time (GMT+3) to midnight, impacting numerous neighborhoods across Bahcelievler, Bagcilar, Gungoren, and Esenler districts.
In Bahcelievler, the outage will affect portions of the Bahcelievler neighborhood itself, along with parts of Yenibosna Merkez, Cobancesme, Hurriyet, and Sirinevler. Complete shutdowns will hit Kocasinan Merkez, Zafer, portions of Fevzi Cakmak, Cumhuriyet, Soganli, and parts of Siyavuspasa neighborhoods.
Bagcilar district will experience the most extensive disruptions, with water service cut off to parts of Mahmutbey, 15 Temmuz, Baglar, and Fevzi Cakmak neighborhoods. The complete list includes Barbaros, Yildiztepe, Inonu, Yenigun, Merkez, lower sections of Cinar, Sancaktepe, lower areas of Kemalpasa, Yavuz Selim, Kazim Karabekir, and Hurriyet neighborhoods.
Gungoren district will see water service suspended across Haznedar, Guven, Akincilar, Maresal Cakmak, Merkez, portions of Sanayi, and Gunestepe neighborhoods. Meanwhile, Esenler district will experience more limited disruption, with only parts of Fatih neighborhood affected by the maintenance work.
The water authority has not indicated whether alternative water supply arrangements will be made available during the 14-hour service interruption, leaving residents in the affected areas to prepare accordingly for the extended outage.
