The Turkish Interior Ministry said Monday that 525 suspects were captured in operations targeting the Daesh terrorist group across 56 provinces.

In a statement, the ministry said the raids were conducted in coordination with police counterterrorism and intelligence units, the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), and chief public prosecutors’ offices.

Provincial counterterrorism teams carried out operations in 56 provinces, including Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa.

The ministry said those captured included individuals with outstanding arrest warrants.

According to the statement, the suspects were identified as having previously operated within the Daesh terrorist organization and provided financial support to the group.

Authorities seized numerous weapons, ammunition, financial assets, organizational documents and digital materials during the raids.

Of those captured, 88 were transferred to deportation centers, the ministry said.
