The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced detention orders for 32 suspects linked to a criminal network known as "C31K," which authorities said had been preparing armed attacks on three schools in three provinces, with 27 people detained as of Friday.
Of the 32 suspects targeted, 19 are minors classified as "children pushed into crime," according to the prosecutor's office.
Five suspects remain at large.
The operation, coordinated by the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Cybercrime Unit, was carried out simultaneously across 22 provinces, with Ankara as its base.
Authorities said the suspects had been identified through an investigation into criminal content shared on social media and other digital communication platforms, including posts related to preparations for armed attacks on three schools in three separate provinces around the start of the new school year.
The prosecutor's office said 27 of the 32 suspects had been apprehended and digital materials seized, with efforts continuing to locate the remaining suspects.
According to the prosecutor's office, investigators determined that suspects affiliated with the network had shared unlawful and exploitative content involving children on social media platforms, along with posts insulting national and religious values, footage of the Turkish flag being burned, and content depicting animal cruelty and killing.
The prosecutor's office said suspects also exploited public sensitivity around current events and the disappearances of well-known individuals, producing visual, written, and audio content intended to spread fear, panic, and intimidation through threats and blackmail, and distributing this material through online groups.
