Türkiye will continue supporting efforts to strengthen Syria’s security and stability, develop its institutional capacity and improve the welfare of the Syrian people, the Turkish Defense Ministry said Thursday.
“Türkiye will continue its support for strengthening Syria’s security and stability, developing its institutional capacity, and promoting the peace and welfare of the Syrian people,” the ministry said during its weekly press briefing.
The ministry pointed to growing military cooperation between Türkiye and Syria as part of efforts to restore stability and normalize daily life in the country.
As part of these efforts, a second floating bridge project over the Euphrates River, carried out jointly by the Turkish Armed Forces and the Syrian Armed Forces, was completed Aug. 30.
The bridge was built to replace an earlier crossing destroyed by flooding and is expected to facilitate transportation between the two banks of the Euphrates.
The ministry described the project as a “concrete example” of cooperation and solidarity between the armed forces of Türkiye and Syria.
The ministry also sharply criticized Israel, accusing its government of pursuing an “expansionist and aggressive” policy that threatens stability across the Middle East.
“The expansionist and aggressive stance of the Israeli government, which seeks to turn the entire Middle East into a conflict zone, continues before the eyes of the international community,” the ministry said.
It said Israel continues military activities that violate the territorial integrity of Syria and Lebanon.
The ministry also accused Israel of carrying out provocative actions that violate the historical and legal status of Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem.
It said Israel’s actions were harming not only regional but also global stability and security, while increasingly undermining public confidence in international law across the region.
Türkiye will continue working toward peace and stability in the region and reminding the international community of its “common responsibility” to take concrete and effective measures against what the ministry described as Israel’s “expansionist and genocidal” policies, it added.
