This year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). On July 1, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, delivered an important speech at the gathering marking the 105th anniversary of the CPC, comprehensively reviewing the glorious journey and great achievements made by the CPC over the past 105 years.
He called on the entire Party to remain steadfast in their convictions and work tirelessly to fulfill the Party’s missions in the new era and on the new journey. He also announced to the world that China will continue to promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, injecting more positive energy into global peace and development.
Devoted to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the CPC has composed a historical chapter that embodies the people-centered principle. Over the past 105 years, the CPC has remained true to its founding mission of seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. It has followed the trends of development to remain at the forefront of the times, accurately grasped the changes in the principal social contradiction across different historical periods, and united and led the people of all ethnic groups in unremitting struggle.
The endeavors over the past 105 years have fundamentally transformed the future of the Chinese people, opened up the right path for achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and produced a profound influence on the course of world history. Under the leadership of the CPC, China has established the world’s largest education, social security and healthcare systems. China has also lifted nearly 800 million people out of poverty, and made the historic strides of raising the living standards of its people from bare subsistence to moderate prosperity in general and then toward moderate prosperity in all respects.
The CPC firmly remembers that the country is its people; the people are the country; it adheres to the Party’s commitment to building itself for the public good and exercising power for the people, championing the Party’s principle of serving the people wholeheartedly. Standing firmly with the people, empathizing and working with them, the CPC has earned the trust and support of the Chinese people and has grown from just over 50 members at the beginning to more than 100 million Party members today, becoming the largest political party in the world with a solid base.
With a vision for the common good of humanity, China offers its solution to global governance. While pursuing China’s own development, the CPC is also committed to advancing human progress and fostering universal harmony for the world. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, in the face of profound global changes unseen in a century, General Secretary Xi Jinping has put forward the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative. He has called upon the people of all countries to work together to build a community with a shared future for humanity, to build an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security, and common prosperity.
China has always been an active participant in, contributor to, and builder of global governance. It firmly upholds the international system with the UN at its core, and has demonstrated Chinese wisdom and proposed Chinese solutions in such areas as leading global climate governance, advancing the development of artificial intelligence for good and for all, safeguarding global public health security, and promoting the improvement of governance rules for new domains.
Recently, China released a white paper titled "More Just and Equitable Global Governance: China’s Principles, Proposals and Actions," which comprehensively outlines China’s actions and achievements in participating in and leading the reform and construction of the global governance system. The white paper calls upon the international community to work together with China to implement the global governance initiatives and build a more just and rational global governance system.
Upon its introduction, the Global Governance Initiative swiftly gained support from nearly 160 countries and international organizations, with over 60 countries joining the Group of Friends of Global Governance. This fully demonstrates that the Global Governance Initiative aligns with the growing trend towards greater democracy in international relations and meets the broad expectations of the international community, and it is increasingly becoming a consensus for promoting world peace and development.
Building a bridge of friendship, China has joined hands with Türkiye to unveil a new chapter in bilateral relations. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Türkiye. Over the past 55 years, political mutual trust between the two countries has been continuously consolidated, and practical cooperation across various fields has progressed steadily.
Bilateral trade volume has expanded from less than one million US dollars at the very beginning to around 50 billion US dollars, while people-to-people exchanges have risen from a relatively small figure to over 500,000 visits. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Erdogan, the China-Türkiye strategic cooperative relationship has maintained a stable momentum of development, with political mutual trust continuing to deepen and practical cooperation yielding fruitful results.
This year, I visited multiple provinces within our consular district and exchanged ideas with many Turkish friends. They expressed deep admiration for the achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC, and spoke with great enthusiasm about China’s development philosophy and governance experience. Quite a few Turkish friends reached out to us, hoping to obtain the Turkish edition of the book Xi Jinping: The Governance of China to study it thoroughly and find the key to decoding China’s governance.
This May, the Chinese Consulate General in Istanbul successfully hosted the "China Day" event at Istanbul Technical University. Nearly a thousand faculty members and students immersed themselves in Chinese high-tech, cuisine, traditional Chinese costumes, and other elements of the "Chinese lifestyle," sparking a "Chinese culture boom" on campus.
As the saying goes, "State-to-state relations are built on people-to-people bonds, and people-to-people bonds are built on heart-to-heart connection." I am firmly convinced that through our joint efforts, the people of the two nations will continue to deepen understanding, enhance mutual trust, and ensure that the friendship endures forever.
Standing at the new starting point of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Türkiye, we look forward to joining hands with friends from all sectors in Türkiye to further promote exchanges between the two countries in various fields, continuously broaden the scope of practical cooperation, and further strengthen people-to-people friendship, thus jointly advancing the China- Türkiye strategic relationship toward steady and long-term development.
