Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed preparations for an upcoming Azerbaijani-Israeli business forum with Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar during a meeting in Baku on Monday.
“During the conversation, satisfaction was expressed regarding the meeting between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Israel that took place a few days ago in Davos, during which issues related to the bilateral agenda were discussed,” Aliyev’s press service said in a statement.
The statement said relations between the two countries are developing successfully across multiple areas, including trade and economy, energy, tourism and other sectors.
Saar said he was accompanied during his visit by representatives of major companies and the broader business community, adding that the upcoming Azerbaijani-Israeli business forum is expected to contribute to the further development of trade and economic relations, according to the readout.
The two officials also praised the role of the intergovernmental commission in strengthening bilateral ties.
“He thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the care of the Jewish community in Azerbaijan at the state level,” the statement said.
The meeting included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest and was attended by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov and Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov.
Saar is expected to hold further meetings in Baku later Monday, including talks with Bayramov, before traveling on to Kazakhstan.
