Iranian media reported that Iranian armed forces and “enemy elements” exchanged fire on Qeshm Island in southern Hormozgan province, while explosion-like sounds were heard near Bandar Abbas and on Qeshm Island.

Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency said the exchange of fire took place on Qeshm Island and that some commercial sections of Bahman Pier were targeted.

The report did not provide details on whether the incident was a direct clash or an air attack by “enemy elements” followed by a response from Iranian air defense systems.

Fars also said people in Bandar Abbas heard several sounds resembling explosions, but the source and exact location of the sounds initially remained unclear. Mehr News Agency reported that explosion sounds were also heard on Qeshm Island.

Bandar Abbas is located north of the Strait of Hormuz, while Qeshm is an island in the waterway.

Tasnim claims possible UAE role in Bahman Pier attack

Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency claimed the UAE may have played a role in the attacks on Bahman Pier.

The claim has not been officially confirmed.

Reports in Israeli media said Israeli sources claimed they had no connection to the incidents in Iran.

Tasnim says drones targeting Bandar Abbas were downed

Tasnim also reported that a drone attack was carried out against Bandar Abbas.

The agency said two drones involved in the attack were neutralized by air defense systems.

Iranian media had earlier reported explosion sounds in Bandar Abbas and on Qeshm Island.

Some sources said part of the sounds were linked to warning operations carried out by the Revolutionary Guards Navy against ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without permission.

Sirik explosion sounds linked to warning fire

Iranian media also reported that explosion sounds were heard in Sirik district in Hormozgan province.

The reports said the sounds in Sirik were caused by warning shots fired by the Revolutionary Guards Navy related to ship passages.

Iranian state TV says missiles fired at US forces

Iranian state television, citing a military officer, said Iran’s military fired missiles at U.S. forces on Thursday after what it described as an attack on an Iranian tanker.

“Following the attack by the U.S. military on an Iranian tanker, the enemy units in the Strait of Hormuz came under Iranian missile fire and were forced to flee after suffering damage,” IRIB reported.

Fox News claims US carried out attacks on Iran

U.S.-based news channel Fox News claimed that the attacks targeting Iran were carried out by the United States.

No further details were immediately provided in the report.

Iranian official warns of harsher response

Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Committee, reacted to the attacks in southern Iran in a post on X.

“Repeated mistakes do not bring a different response; they only make the response harsher and more destructive,” Azizi said.

Azizi made the statement after reports of explosion sounds in Bandar Abbas and clashes between Iranian armed forces and “enemy elements” on Qeshm Island.
