U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst that this is the "last chance" for Iran to agree to a peace deal, vowing he would not repeat what he characterized as former President Barack Obama's mistake.

He issued one of his most explicit threats yet: "If Iran does not sign this deal, the whole country is going to be blown up."

"If Iran does not sign this deal, the whole country is getting blown up," Trump stated.

'You cannot let them have a nuclear weapon'

"We're preparing to hit them harder than any country has ever been hit before because you cannot let them have a nuclear weapon," Trump told FOX News.

The U.S. president added that Washington has "massive amounts" of ammunition.

"It's almost like they don't learn," he added.

Hostilities in the region have escalated after the U.S. and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28. In response, Tehran retaliated with strikes on Israel and other regional countries hosting U.S. assets.

The war has been on hold since April 8, when Pakistan mediated a two-week ceasefire.

Washington and Tehran held talks in Pakistan last weekend, but the talks ended without a deal. Pakistani mediators are seeking to hold another round of talks between the two sides.
