The U.S. faces the threat of new military fronts, advanced weaponry, and unfamiliar tactics from Tehran if airstrikes resume, according to the Iranian army spokesman cited by the ISNA news agency on Tuesday.
Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia made the remarks at a gathering at Vali-Asr Square in the capital, responding to U.S. threats against Iran, ISNA reported.
Akraminia said the only path forward for what he called "the enemy" was to respect the Iranian people and the country's legal rights.
"If the enemy is foolish enough to fall into the Zionist trap again and launches new aggression against our beloved Iran, we will open new fronts against it, with new equipment and new methods," Akraminia said, according to ISNA.
The spokesman pointed to Iran's Armed Forces' dominance over the Strait of Hormuz, stating the waterway's status would not revert to what it was before the war.
Akraminia added that Iran's Armed Forces were treating the ceasefire period the same as an active combat period and were continuing preparations accordingly.
He said Iran "could not be besieged or defeated."
The remarks came a day after U.S. President Donald Trump said he had held off launching a new offensive against Iran in hopes of reaching a diplomatic agreement, following requests from Gulf Arab leaders who said a deal was close.
Regional tensions have escalated since the U.S. and Israel launched strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, prompting retaliatory attacks by Tehran and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire took effect on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, but talks in Islamabad failed to secure a lasting agreement. The truce was later extended by Trump without a specified deadline.
Since April 13, the U.S. has enforced a naval blockade targeting Iranian maritime traffic in the strategic waterway.
