Iran’s military warned Saturday that it would respond if the U.S. continues its blockade of Iranian ports, calling the move “banditry” and “piracy,” Iranian media reported.
The warning was issued by the military’s central command, Khatam Al-Anbiya, in a statement carried by state-run IRIB and reported by the Tasnim news agency.
Khatam Al-Anbiya said that if “the invading U.S. military continues blockading, banditry, and piracy in the region, they should be certain that they will face a response from Iran’s powerful armed forces.”
The command said Iran’s armed forces have “greater power and readiness than before” to defend the country’s sovereignty, territory, and national interests.
It said Iran had demonstrated part of that power and offensive capability during what it described as the “Third Imposed War.”
The statement said Iran was monitoring the behavior and movements of enemies in the region while continuing to manage and control the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
“We are ready and determined, while monitoring the behavior and movements of enemies in the region and continuing to manage and control the strategic Strait of Hormuz, to inflict even heavier damage on the American Zionist enemies in case of another aggression,” it said.
In a separate version carried by IRIB, the command said, "We are ready and determined while monitoring the behavior and movements of enemies.”
