Iranian media denied reports on Friday that the country will resume negotiations with the United States next week, while Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declared that Tehran would not end the renewed conflict by surrendering.

According to Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency, an unnamed source denied claims that preparations had been completed for negotiations in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, or that technical talks would continue next week.

The source urged media outlets not to rely on such reports and said any developments regarding negotiations would be announced through official Iranian channels.

Reports of talks emerge amid renewed fighting

Pakistani media outlets reported this week that Islamabad had emerged as the frontrunner to host the next round of U.S.-Iran talks, although neither the timing nor the venue had been finalized.

The reports gained further attention after U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that Washington had agreed to continue negotiations after Iran requested more talks. Trump, however, also reiterated that the ceasefire between the two countries was "over."

The renewed tensions broke out earlier this week after the United States accused Iran of attacking commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and launched retaliatory strikes.

Tehran denied the allegations and responded by firing drones and missiles at U.S. bases across Gulf countries, raising fears that the confrontation could escalate further.

Ghalibaf vows Iran will not surrender

Meanwhile, Ghalibaf struck a defiant tone, insisting the conflict would not end with Tehran's surrender despite international efforts to halt the fighting.

"Ending the war is a priority for the countries of the world, but everyone must know that this confrontation will never end with Iran's surrender," Ghalibaf said during a meeting with the speaker of Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly.

He also warned that Iran was prepared to respond if Washington violated previous understandings.

"Whenever the Americans betray the understanding (agreement), we are fully prepared to defend ourselves; we will stand firmly against them and secure the rights of the Iranian people," he said.

Ghalibaf also recalled telling U.S. Vice President JD Vance during previous negotiations that Tehran did not trust Washington. "From my point of view, those who can negotiate with America are those who are prepared for war," he added.
