Bahrain's Foreign Ministry condemned in the "strongest terms" an Iranian drone attack on its territory early Saturday, calling it a "blatant violation" of its sovereignty and a "brazen threat" to the security of citizens and residents, as Kuwait and other regional states voiced solidarity with Manama.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses, in the strongest terms, the condemnation of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the targeting of its territory at dawn today, Saturday, June 27, 2026, by a number of Iranian drones, in a blatant violation of its sovereignty, a brazen threat to the security of citizens and residents, and a flagrant breach of international norms and conventions that prohibit targeting civilian objects and terrorizing civilians," Bahrain's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Bahrain: Iran bears 'sole responsibility' for undermining peace efforts

The ministry said that as regional and international efforts move toward de-escalation, Iran's continued aggression places on Tehran alone the responsibility for undermining peace efforts and reveals what it called an approach based on destabilizing security, exporting chaos and undermining regional stability.

"Peace is not built through intimidation, and security is not seized through aggression," the ministry said.

"Bahrain's resolve is firmer than any threat, and the unity of its national ranks is beyond the reach of anyone who believes that continued aggression will deter honorable people from their principles or weaken their resolve," the ministry added.

The ministry recalled UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which it said Bahrain had submitted on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan, and which received the support of 136 countries in what it described as an expression of collective international will.

It said Iran's continued aggression represents a direct challenge to that international will.

The ministry noted that Iran had pledged a permanent halt to military operations and respect for the sovereignty of regional states under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed June 17.

It said Tehran's "treacherous aggression" reveals its disregard for the international community and the commitments it undertook.

While affirming Bahrain's full and legitimate right under international law to defend its sovereignty, security and stability, the ministry called on the UN Security Council "to assume its responsibilities in ensuring the implementation of its resolution and holding the aggressor accountable."

Bahrain's Foreign Ministry, in its statement, condemned the attack involving "a number of Iranian drones" without disclosing the exact location or nature of the target.

The ministry said the incident endangered civilian lives and undermined regional efforts to de-escalate tensions.

Kuwait condemns attack, expresses 'full solidarity' with Bahrain

Kuwait's Foreign Ministry issued its own statement condemning the attack.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the strong condemnation and denunciation of the State of Kuwait of the sinful Iranian attack on the territory of the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain with a number of drones, in a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, a direct threat to its security, stability and the safety of its citizens and residents on its territory, and a clear breach of the rules of international law and the UN Charter," the ministry said in a statement.

"The Ministry affirms that the continuation of these aggressions, amid regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation and reducing tensions, represents a dangerous undermining of efforts for peace and stability and a threat to the security and stability of the region," the statement said.

Kuwait reaffirmed its "firm and supportive position for the security and stability of the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain," expressing "full solidarity" and standing "fully alongside it in all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security and the safety of its territories."

The Bahraini and Kuwaiti statements came hours after the U.S. said its forces struck Iranian missile, drone and radar sites late Friday, accusing Tehran of targeting a commercial vessel crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) subsequently said its naval forces struck U.S. military positions across the region in response to the American strikes on southern Iran, vowing a harsh response if escalation continues.
