Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday that peace in the region would prevail despite Israeli provocations, accusing Tel Aviv of trying to undermine efforts toward a negotiated settlement.
Speaking at a party meeting in parliament, Erdogan said Türkiye was entering a more sensitive phase and would continue supporting efforts for a lasting resolution to the Iran crisis.
"We know that Israel cannot tolerate even the slightest possibility of peace," Erdogan said.
He said Israel had done everything possible over the past 10 days to undermine what he called a hard-won consensus reached through the efforts of all sides.
Erdogan said recent Israeli statements showed that the region was facing not state reasoning, but "a reckless group of radicals."
"The situation is so grave that everyone is accusing each other of killing fewer people and shedding less blood," he said.
He accused both the Israeli government and opposition of constantly raising the bar in what he described as genocidal conduct.
"A reckless group competing with each other in bloodthirstiness never wants the guns to fall silent in our region," Erdogan said.
Erdogan described Israel as a "massacre network" that has turned terror and occupation into state policy.
He said Israel bases its national security on instability for everyone outside itself, including its neighbors.
"This massacre network, which sees its national security in everyone other than itself, including its neighbors, being in instability, and which has made terror and occupation a state policy, has been doing everything it can over the past 10 days to dynamite the agreement reached with great effort by all parties," Erdogan said.
He added that Israel would continue "every kind of aggression" until it reaches its goals.
Erdogan said peace, stability, justice and prosperity in the region would not be prevented by Israeli actions.
"If peace comes to our region, it will come despite Israel," he said. "If there is calm in our region, it will be despite Israel's provocations."
"No matter what the massacre network does, it will not be able to prevent peace, calm, justice, stability and prosperity from prevailing in our region, God willing," he added.
Erdogan said Türkiye would not refrain from doing its part if there was even the smallest chance for peace.
"As Türkiye, we will not hesitate to do whatever falls on us to make use of even the slightest chance for peace," he said.
He added that Türkiye would continue to provide all kinds of support for efforts aimed at a permanent resolution of the Iran crisis in the coming period.
