Saudi Arabia has expelled Iran’s military attache and four other diplomats, giving them 24 hours to leave the country as tensions escalate during the ongoing conflict.
In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the military attache, assistant military attache, and three other staff members were declared persona non grata and must depart within the specified time.
The ministry said Iran’s “continued attacks represent further escalation” and damage relations between the two countries, stressing its “firm condemnation” of Iranian strikes against Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region.
The development comes as Saudi air defenses tracked the launch of three ballistic missiles toward the capital Riyadh.
According to the Defense Ministry, one missile was intercepted, while the other two fell in an uninhabited area.
The ministry also said six drones heading toward the kingdom’s eastern region, home to major oil installations, were shot down.
No casualties or damage were reported.
Saudi Arabia said Iran has damaged relations with surrounding countries during the latest fighting by firing drones and missiles into their territories.
