A senior official of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was reportedly killed in an Israeli Air Force (IAF) airstrike targeting a vehicle near Damascus International Airport, according to initial reports.

Targeted strike near Damascus

The strike, which occurred near the airport, targeted a car carrying two individuals. Syrian regime sources have said that one person was killed and another was wounded.

Reports indicate that the Israeli strike aimed at eliminating a "senior figure" associated with the IRGC, though specific details regarding the identity of the victim remain unconfirmed.

The IRGC, a powerful entity overseeing both a vast business empire and Iran's elite military and intelligence units, has been accused by Western nations of conducting a global terrorism campaign, a claim Iran denies.

Recently, Canada added IRGC to its list of terrorist organizations and advised its citizens to leave Iran.
