The Syrian Army’s Operations Command announced on Saturday a halt to all military operations inside the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the northern city of Aleppo following escalation with the YPG-led SDF terrorist group.
In statements carried by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Operations Command said: "We announce the halt of all military operations inside the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo starting at 3 p.m. (12 p.m. GMT)."
It added that "SDF militants entrenched inside Yassin Hospital will be transferred toward the city of Tabqah, with their weapons withdrawn."
The command further said that "the army will begin handing over all health and government facilities to state institutions and will gradually withdraw from the streets of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood."
The terrorist organization YPG-led SDF launched attacks on multiple points in Aleppo beginning January 6 from areas it had occupied. The Damascus administration demanded that SDF comply with the March 10 agreement and cease attacks in Aleppo.
When SDF continued its attacks, the Syrian Army launched precision operations against the terrorist organization's positions in the Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zaid neighborhoods of Aleppo, which were under terrorist occupation.
The March 10 Memorandum of Understanding established terms for the SDF's integration into Syrian state institutions and reaffirmed Syria's commitment to territorial unity and rejecting division attempts.
