Turkish daily Hurriyet writer and fashion influencer Cihan Sensozlu, known publicly as “Cihanna,” was reportedly detained in Qatar on allegations that he was dressed like a “transgender model.”
According to Turkish media reports on Monday, citing entertainment industry sources, Cihanna was taken in for questioning by Qatari police after he was seen in public “with a style resembling that of a trans model.”
The incident quickly drew major attention on social media, where many users reacted sharply to claims that he was “detained over clothing style.”
Cihanna’s health status, where he is being held, and whether any formal charges have been filed remain unclear.
There are also claims that Cihanna was deported on the grounds of “not dressing in accordance with the culture.” Cihanna is expected to address the issue in a statement.
Meanwhile, Qatari authorities have not issued any statement on the matter.
