Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Tuesday that 200 Ukrainian air defense experts are currently in the Middle East helping counter Iranian drone attacks.

Speaking at the British Parliament during his visit to the United Kingdom, Zelenskyy said drones, especially cheap attack drones, have completely changed modern warfare.

He said Iranian drones cost about $50,000 each, while the U.S. and its allies are using missiles worth about $4 million to shoot them down.

Ukraine shares experience from war, offers support

Zelenskyy said Ukraine has regularly faced combined drone and missile attacks after Russia ramped up production of Iranian-designed Shahed drones early last year.

Facing a shortage of traditional Western-supplied air defense systems, Kyiv developed a layered defense system that includes electronic warfare tools, helicopters and reconfigured cargo planes hunting drones from the air, as well as troops on the ground using heavy machine guns and surface-to-air missiles.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine is capable of producing around 2,000 interceptor drones per day and could provide about half of that to its allies, offering to share what the country has developed.
