A U.S.-Israeli airstrike targeted a major bridge and nearby sites in northern Iran on Thursday, injuring several people and damaging critical infrastructure, Iranian media reported.

According to Fars News Agency, multiple locations in the Azimieh area near the city of Karaj were hit, including the B1 Bridge, described as the highest bridge in the Middle East and a significant engineering project.

The bridge, part of a major road infrastructure development and expected to be inaugurated soon, sustained damage in the attack, Iranian sources said.

Bridge damaged, injuries reported as rescue teams respond

Reports said several people were injured in the strikes, with emergency and rescue teams deployed to the scene.

Iranian local authorities described the B1 Bridge as one of the country’s major infrastructure projects, noting that it had been nearing completion before being targeted.

Power outages were also reported in parts of the region following the attack, with electricity distribution teams working to restore service.

Strike comes amid ongoing regional escalation

The reported strike is part of the ongoing U.S.-Israeli air campaign against Iran, which began on Feb. 28.

According to the reports, the offensive has resulted in over 1,340 deaths, including Iran’s then-supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as countries including Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting U.S. military assets.

The retaliatory strikes have caused casualties, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted global markets and aviation.
