Fenerbahce beat Kayserispor 4-0 away in Week 29 of the Trendyol Super Lig, but the match drew attention not only for the scoreline.
The defining moment came when Fenerbahce goalkeeper Ederson Santana de Moraes was struck by a foreign object thrown from the stands, leaving him with a cut above the eye, before he angrily hit the broadcaster’s camera as it moved in for a close-up during treatment.
The match had already turned tense before the injury incident. In the 33rd minute, Fenerbahce players strongly objected to a challenge involving Guendouzi and Makarov, arguing that the position warranted a red card. Instead, referee Ali Yilmaz showed Makarov a yellow card, prompting protests from the visiting side.
As the complaints continued, Ederson left his goal and went over to the referee, which led to a yellow card for the Brazilian goalkeeper. Fred, who was waiting on the bench, also picked up a yellow card after objecting to the decision. The disagreement then spilled into a brief confrontation between players from both teams.
Fenerbahce went in front in first-half stoppage time through N'Golo Kante, who made it 1-0 in the 45+1st minute. Soon after the goal, the game was disrupted when objects were thrown from the Kayserispor stands toward the field.
One of those objects hit Ederson and caused a cut to his eyebrow area. Medical staff treated him on the pitch and applied a bandage, allowing him to continue.
While Ederson was receiving treatment and dealing with visible pain, the broadcaster’s camera came close to capturing the moment. That close-up drew an immediate reaction from the goalkeeper, who struck the camera in frustration.
The incident quickly became one of the main talking points after the final whistle, as Fenerbahce closed out a clear 4-0 win but saw the night overshadowed by rising tension, crowd trouble, and Ederson’s angry response on the field.
