Fenerbahce Beko bow out of the EuroLeague after falling 79-61 to Greek side Olympiakos in the Final Four semifinal in Athens on Friday.
The Istanbul club came into the matchup as the defending EuroLeague champion after lifting the trophy in 2025, as Olympiakos quickly took control of Friday’s semifinal, storming out to a 12-0 opening run while Fenerbahce struggled to settle into the game.
Fenerbahce tried to respond in the second quarter and briefly slowed down the Greek side’s momentum, but Olympiakos still headed into halftime with a comfortable 33-24 lead.
The Greek club came out even sharper in the third quarter. Georgios Bartzokas’ team opened the second half with another 11-0 run, stretching the margin to 44-24 and putting Fenerbahce under heavy pressure.
Sarunas Jasikevicius reacted with tactical adjustments as Fenerbahce answered with a 15-4 surge midway through the quarter. The Turkish side managed to cut into the deficit, but Olympiakos still carried a 56-41 advantage into the final period.
Fenerbahce could not build on the comeback attempt in the closing minutes and eventually slipped to an 18-point defeat, ending the club’s hopes of retaining the EuroLeague crown.
The loss marked the fourth time Fenerbahce has been eliminated at the semifinal stage in eight Final Four appearances.
Olympiakos now advances to Sunday’s championship game, where it will face the winner of the Valencia-Real Madrid semifinal, after tournament organizers previously decided not to hold a third-place game this year.
