Türkiye's Fenerbahce has reportedly accelerated its pursuit of key attacking reinforcements, focusing on Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth and English winger Jadon Sancho ahead of the January transfer window.
The club is aiming to address concerns in its forward line and strengthen its squad as it targets a deep run in the UEFA Europa League and continues its title race in the Super Lig, according to the reports on Turkish media.
Coach Domenico Tedesco has reportedly conveyed his dissatisfaction with the performances of current forwards Youssef En-Nesyri and Jhon Duran.
En-Nesyri has informed the club of his intention to leave during the winter break, prompting Fenerbahce to act swiftly to secure alternatives. Following the developments, Alexander Sorloth has re-emerged as a serious option for the Istanbul side, Turkish sports outlet Fanatik reported.
Club officials, including Football Director Devin Ozek, traveled to Norway ahead of the Brann match to meet with Sorloth’s representative. "He's open to joining Fenerbahce but wants to be guaranteed a spot in the starting eleven," the agent reportedly told club executives.
The striker, who previously played in Türkiye with Trabzonspor during the 2019–20 season, is seen as a strong fit for Fenerbahce and may soon receive a formal offer, the report suggested.
Sorloth currently holds a €20 million ($23.47 million) market value according to Transfermarkt, with his contract at Atletico Madrid running until the summer of 2028. He has made 16 appearances for the Spanish club this season, scoring 4 goals.
Beyond Sorloth, Fenerbahce has drawn up a list of striker targets. Roma’s Artem Dovbyk is reportedly among the top names, with Inter’s Pio Esposito also being considered. Gianluca Scamacca of Atalanta appears less likely due to the complexities of a mid-season transfer.
Alongside the striker search, Tedesco has requested the addition of a winger with pace and strong one-on-one skills, with Jadon Sancho reportedly emerging as the top candidate amid indications that the English international is considering a departure from Aston Villa following tensions with manager Unai Emery.
Fenerbahce is monitoring the situation and exploring the possibility of securing Sancho on a permanent deal, provided a favorable transfer fee can be agreed upon.
Sancho, who once held a peak transfer value of €130 million, is currently on loan at Aston Villa but has struggled for playing time this season, featuring in only seven matches so far.
Holding a €20 million market value, Sancho remains under contract with Manchester United until the summer of 2026.
