Defending champions Galatasaray claimed their first win of the Trendyol Super Lig season with a 4-0 victory away to Erzurumspor FK in the second week of the campaign.

The win lifted Galatasaray to four points after two matches. Erzurumspor remained without a point after suffering its second defeat of the season, following a 3-0 loss away to Amed Sportif Faaliyetler in the opening week.

Sallai scores first goal of season

After opening the season with a 2-2 home draw against Arca Corum FK, Galatasaray started strongly at Erzurum Kazim Karabekir Stadium. Roland Sallai opened the scoring in the 12th minute, while Yunus Akgun doubled the lead eight minutes later.

Victor Osimhen then scored in the 45th minute to give Galatasaray a 3-0 lead at halftime. Nigerian striker had scored twice against Corum FK in the opening week, and his second goal against Erzurumspor took his season tally to four.

Galatasaray remained in control after the break and did not allow Erzurumspor to create a clear scoring opportunity. Osimhen scored again in the 80th minute to complete the 4-0 victory.

Osimhen moves into 3rd among Galatasaray's top foreign scorers

Osimhen has scored 16 goals in his last 14 Super Lig appearances, finding the net in 12 of those matches.

The run began with Galatasaray's match against Samsunspor in the 15th week of last season. He failed to score in only two of those 14 appearances but provided assists in both matches.

The two goals against Erzurumspor also moved Osimhen into third place among Galatasaray's highest-scoring foreign players.

Osimhen had made 74 official appearances for Galatasaray over two seasons and scored 59 goals before the start of this campaign. His four goals in the first two league matches of the season have taken his total to 63.

He moved past Milan Baros, who scored 61 goals for Galatasaray. Mauro Icardi remains the club's leading scorer with 77 goals, followed by Gheorghe Hagi with 72.
