Galatasaray is said to be planning a championship celebration befitting its ambitions, with Turkish media reporting that the club has approached global pop star Dua Lipa with a $2 million offer to perform at what could be a historic title party in Istanbul.

According to Turkish sports journalist Yakup Cinar, whose report was widely picked up across Turkish media on Saturday, Galatasaray's management has put a package offer to Lipa's team covering a four-song set at the celebration event. Multiple Turkish outlets report that Lipa's camp has responded positively to the proposal and that negotiations between the two sides are ongoing.

The offer, reportedly to be funded by club sponsors rather than directly from club coffers, would bring one of the world's highest-profile pop performers to Istanbul for what would be a landmark moment in Turkish football. If a deal is finalised, Turkish media claims the celebration could be held at Yenikapi, the large waterfront event ground on the European side of Istanbul that has hosted major outdoor gatherings in the past.

A title on the brink

The reports emerged ahead of Galatasaray's Saturday evening home fixture against Antalyaspor at RAMS Park, a match the club could win to clinch its 26th Super Lig championship and a fourth consecutive title. Galatasaray entered the match holding a four-point lead over rivals Fenerbahce with two weeks left in the season, meaning a win would secure the trophy regardless of other results.

The club last season became the first in Turkish football history to wear a fifth star on its jersey, a milestone awarded after reaching 25 league titles. A 26th would extend an already commanding record in Turkish domestic football.

A global star for a global club

Dua Lipa, the Grammy Award-winning British-Albanian singer behind hits including "Levitating" and "Don't Start Now," has become one of the most commercially successful artists in the world over the past several years. Her reported performance fee would reflect a touring market in which top-tier acts regularly command seven-figure sums for private or corporate appearances.

Galatasaray has in recent years positioned itself as one of the most commercially aggressive clubs in Turkish football, spending roughly 175 million euros in transfer fees during 2025 alone, headlined by the permanent signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli for a Turkish transfer record of 75 million euros. The reported Lipa approach fits a pattern of the club seeking to project its brand beyond domestic football.
