The Lukaku family's ties to Turkish football stretch across two generations, with Roger Lukaku, Romelu Lukaku, Jordan Lukaku and Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo all linked with clubs in Türkiye at different points in their careers.

Roger Lukaku, the father of Romelu and Jordan Lukaku, played for Genclerbirligi during the 1996-1997 period, making 33 official appearances and scoring four goals. Decades later, his sons and nephew would also follow paths through Turkish football.

Roger Lukaku started family's Türkiye connection

Roger Lukaku became the first member of the family to play in Türkiye when he turned out for Genclerbirligi, a Turkish football club, during the 1996-1997 period.

His spell included 33 official matches and four goals, establishing the earliest link between the Lukaku family and Turkish football.

That connection later carried over to the next generation through his sons Romelu and Jordan.

Romelu and Jordan Lukaku follow separate routes

Romelu Lukaku, Roger Lukaku's son, is linked with Fenerbahce, extending the family's presence in Türkiye through one of its next-generation members.

His brother Jordan Lukaku also played in Turkish football, spending the 2023-2024 period with Adanaspor.

The brothers therefore followed their father into Turkish football through different clubs, adding another layer to a family connection that began in the 1990s.

Cousin Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo adds another branch

The family's Turkish football links also extend beyond Roger Lukaku's immediate family.

Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo, a cousin of Romelu and Jordan Lukaku, was with Istanbul Basaksehir during the 2020-2021 period.

His involvement means four members of the wider Lukaku family have been associated with Turkish clubs: Roger at Genclerbirligi, Romelu at Fenerbahce, Jordan at Adanaspor and Bolingoli-Mbombo at Istanbul Basaksehir.
