Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has traveled to his home country, Nigeria, to recover mentally following a serious arm injury sustained during a UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool, as the club confirmed a fracture in his right forearm.
The injury occurred during a physical challenge with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate in the first half of the match. Although Osimhen initially continued playing, medical concerns at halftime led to his being withdrawn from the game.
Subsequent hospital examinations carried out under the supervision of Galatasaray’s medical team confirmed a fracture in his right forearm. The club stated that his arm was placed in a cast, while further assessments will determine whether surgery will be required in the coming days.
In its official statement, the club explained that Osimhen had taken a blow to his arm during the first half and was not allowed to continue in the second half due to the risk of a fracture, which was later confirmed after detailed scans.
Following the diagnosis, Osimhen headed to Nigeria to take time off and focus on recovery. During his stay, he received support from former Nigerian international Odion Ighalo, who accompanied him to visit his mother.
The visit carried symbolic importance, as Ighalo’s mother offered prayers for Osimhen’s recovery. The gesture was described as a form of spiritual support aimed at helping the player overcome both injury and misfortune.
As the medical team continues to evaluate whether surgical intervention will be necessary, the player remains away from competitive action.
