Besiktas has made a perfect start under Italian coach Vincenzo Italiano, winning all five of its competitive matches without conceding a goal as the Istanbul club carried its strong European form into the Turkish Super Lig.
The Black Eagles opened its 2026-27 league campaign with a 1-0 home victory over Eyupspor, extending a run that had already taken them through two UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds.
Besiktas has won every competitive match since Italiano took charge, with the 48-year-old coach overseeing four victories in Europe before picking up his first Super Lig win against Eyupspor.
The Istanbul side beat Denmark's Midtjylland 1-0 and 2-0 in the second qualifying round before seeing off Czech club Hradec Kralove 1-0 in both legs of the third round.
The 1-0 win over Eyupspor then made it five victories from five matches, with Besiktas winning four games by a single goal and one by a 2-0 scoreline.
Italiano, who took over after Onder Ozen was appointed football director, has also attracted attention with his energetic presence on the touchline as Besiktas settle into their new setup.
The most striking feature of the run has been Besiktas' defensive record, with the team yet to concede in 450 minutes of competitive football this season.
It is the first time in five seasons that the Black Eagles have put together five consecutive clean sheets. Besiktas last achieved the feat during their 2020-21 title-winning campaign, when they also went five straight matches without allowing a goal.
Goalkeeper Alexander Nubel has played every minute of the current run and has also gone 450 minutes without conceding. Along with making saves at key moments, the 29-year-old German has provided Besiktas with an additional passing option when building up from the back.
Besiktas has scored six goals across its five matches, with four different players contributing.
Captain Orkun Kokcu and Vaclav Cerny have scored twice each, while Milot Rashica and Semih Kilicsoy have added one goal apiece.
The Eyupspor victory also marked the beginning of Besiktas' 69th season in the Turkish Super Lig, with the club opening its domestic campaign by taking all three points while preserving the defensive record that has defined Italiano's opening weeks in charge.
