Türkiye’s men’s national basketball team will face Germany in the EuroBasket 2025 final on Sunday in Riga, Latvia, seeking its first-ever European championship title.
The game will tip off at 9:00 p.m. local time (GMT+3) at Arena Riga and will be broadcast live on TRT 1 in Türkiye and on the channel’s digital platform, tabii.com.
As Türkiye prepares for the EuroBasket 2025 final against Germany, major cities are turning parks and squares into open-air arenas.
Municipalities in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir are setting up large screens, allowing thousands of basketball fans to share the excitement of the championship game together.
In Istanbul, residents will be able to watch the game at Baglarbasi Cultural Center in Uskudar, as well as at Kadikoy Kalamis Ataturk Park, Arnavutkoy Cumhuriyet Square, Pendik Seaside Square and the historic Fatih Yedikule Fortress.
In the capital, Ankara, the Metropolitan Municipality is setting up giant screens at Ataturk Forest Farm Natural Life Park and at Batikent Recreation Area, enabling thousands to follow the match in outdoor settings.
In Izmir, fans can gather at Bostanli Yasemin Cafe in the Karsiyaka district and Alsancak Gundogdu Square, along with Torbali–Ertan Unver National Park, turning the city into one of the biggest viewing spots outside the host nation.
In Aydin, the Talas National Garden will serve as a public viewing site, while in Antalya, thousands of fans are expected to gather at HayatPark, one of the city’s main recreational areas.
This will be Türkiye’s second appearance in a EuroBasket final.
The national team last reached the championship game in 2001, when it hosted the tournament but lost to Yugoslavia 78-69.
A win over Germany would secure Türkiye its first-ever European title.
Germany has previously won the European title once, on home soil in 1993, when it defeated Russia 71-70. The team also collected a silver medal in 2005 and a bronze in 2022.
Both teams arrive in Riga undefeated, each winning eight games on the way to the final.
The final will mark the 12th official meeting between the two nations.
Of the previous 11 games, Germany has won seven while Türkiye has won four. Their last clash came at EuroBasket 2015, where Türkiye won 80-75 in the group stage.
Attention will center on two NBA players who have been leading scorers for their teams.
Cedi Osman, Türkiye’s captain, has averaged 15.1 points, while Germany’s Dennis Schroder follows Wagner with 20.9 points per game.
Türkiye’s head coach, Ergin Ataman, is chasing his seventh European trophy, but his first with a national team.
He has previously won three EuroLeague titles (2021, 2022 and 2024), as well as championships in the EuroCup, FIBA Saporta Cup, and FIBA EuroChallenge. Victory in Riga would extend his legacy to international competition.
