Turkish NGOs reach out to millions globally during Ramadan, targeting earthquake-stricken areas in Türkiye and conflict-affected populations abroad, aiming to bring hope and sustenance
Türkiye continues to provide help to millions of people in earthquake-stricken areas and various parts of the world through non-governmental organizations (NGOs) during Ramadan.
Operating under the slogan "This Ramadan Can't Be Without You," the Turkish Red Crescent aims to reach a total of 8.8 million people both domestically and internationally with 1.2715 billion Turkish liras worth of aid.
During Ramadan, the Turkish Red Crescent prioritizes delivering aid to the provinces affected by the February 6, 2023, earthquakes in Gaza and Türkiye.
The Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) plans to reach 3.5 million people with aid activities in 60 countries. This includes the distribution of iftar meals and food packages. The IHH has set a target to deliver food packages, priced at 800 Turkish liras each, to a total of 50,000 families in all 81 provinces of Türkiye. Additionally, they aim to distribute food packages to a total of 45,000 needy families in countries abroad.
The Deniz Feneri Association, under the slogan "Forgive and Be Blessed," aims to reach 1 million people in 25 countries across three continents through its Ramadan activities. The association will distribute food parcels in countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Palestine, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen, considering the dietary habits of the recipient countries.
The Federation of the Associations That Value Humanity (IDDEF) will distribute the donations of philanthropists to 56 countries and 310 regions to reach those in need. The foundation will send zakat, fitrah, ransom, food packages, iftar meals, and other aid to those in need in Türkiye, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Balkans, as well as to countries facing drought, famine, and internal conflicts, and to students studying in madrasas and their impoverished families.
The association will meet with earthquake victims in Adiyaman, Kahramanmaras, Malatya, and Hatay at iftar tables. Additionally, they will send a truckload of food packages from Istanbul and Malatya to Gaza. The association will distribute food packages in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Palestine, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Somalia, as well as provide clothing for orphans.
The Orphans Foundation aims to reach 200,000 people in 21 countries, including Türkiye and Palestine, with donation amounts set at 900 Turkish liras for food packages, 250 for Ramadan children's packages, 1000 for Eid clothing, 130 for iftar meals, and 130 for fitrah and ransom.
The Besir Association will provide aid to Gaza, Yemen, Arakan, and Syria.
The Doctors Worldwide Foundation will distribute food packages and set up iftar tables for those in need in 20 countries under the campaign "Open to Saving Lives."
The Runners of Hope Foundation will focus on working in African countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Burkina Faso.
The Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV) will provide food packages and Eid clothing assistance to those in need in Pakistan during Ramadan. With the support of donors, the TDV will deliver Ramadan aid supplies to those in need in seven regions of Pakistan.
