Russia launched a massive overnight barrage of drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles across Ukraine on Tuesday, injuring at least six people in Kyiv and striking cities and critical infrastructure nationwide, Ukrainian officials said.
The Ukrainian Air Force issued repeated alerts through the night as waves of unmanned aerial vehicles and high-speed ballistic missiles targeted the capital, urging residents to take shelter.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the city came under ballistic attack and called for medical teams to be sent to the Solomianskyi district.
At least six people were wounded in Kyiv, three of whom were hospitalized, while three others received outpatient treatment. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said 13 people were rescued from affected buildings across the capital.
In Holosiivskyi district, a fire broke out on the grounds of an educational institution. A blast wave also struck the 23rd floor of a 26-story non-residential building.
Rescuers saved two people trapped inside a 16-story residential building and another person near a burning garage.
In Solomianskyi district, emergency crews rescued 10 residents from a five-story apartment building.
Fires were also reported in non-residential areas of Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts, while firefighters extinguished blazes involving warehouses, private garages and vehicles in Podilskyi, Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts.
In the wider Kyiv region, Russian drone strikes targeted the Boryspil and Fastiv districts, according to the State Emergency Service.
Fires broke out at industrial enterprises in the Boryspil area, where seven trucks were destroyed. A logistics complex was struck twice, with emergency crews later extinguishing all fires there.
The attacks also hit Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.
Russian tactical aircraft also launched KAB guided aerial bombs against frontline positions and civilian structures in eastern Ukraine.
No official casualty figures were immediately reported outside Kyiv.
The strikes marked a resumption of hostilities following a three-day temporary ceasefire observed during a recent regional visit by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
