Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would discuss Iran and other pending issues with U.S. President Donald Trump during an upcoming meeting in Washington, while announcing that Israeli military raids and attacks in the occupied West Bank would expand.
Speaking at the start of his weekly Cabinet meeting, Netanyahu addressed his planned U.S. visit and recent developments in the occupied West Bank.
Netanyahu said he would travel to the U.S. the following day and meet Trump to discuss “all pending issues on the agenda, including the situation in Iran.”
It had previously been announced that Netanyahu would meet Trump in Washington on Tuesday, July 28.
Netanyahu also said he would attend the funeral of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, describing him as “one of Israel’s greatest friends since its establishment.”
Addressing events that began with attacks by Israelis who seized Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank, Netanyahu said he had ordered raids on villages, searches and arrests.
He also referred to the detention of two Palestinians during a raid on a hospital in the West Bank city of Nablus, claiming that the two had been hiding inside the hospital.
Netanyahu said the homes of the detained Palestinians would be demolished and announced that Israeli military raids and attacks targeting Palestinians across the occupied West Bank would be expanded.
Netanyahu said he spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday night and that Rubio conveyed Washington’s intention to take action against the International Criminal Court, or ICC.
The ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Netanyahu claimed that the court had endangered justice worldwide by issuing the warrants.
He also alleged that ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan pursued the arrest warrants against him to create “a protective shield” intended to divert attention elsewhere.
“That shield has now been removed,” Netanyahu said.
